McGrath Powersports Dirt Days September 2010
It had been a solid 2 weeks of hot and dry weather, myself "Marck", Terry, Trent and Rick worked 2 days before on digging out the mud run pit, but the forecast was poor, a small chance for only a minor amount of rain for the weekend. We worked for hours on end pumping a home made 300 gallon watering system with a trash pump in to our mud run, back and forth from our run to the reservoir, and by sunset we had filled the pit nicely. But the following day it was just dry mounds of hard clay, so I had lined up the Solon Fire Dept. to come out and empty at least one tanker full of water about 1500 gallons on the morning of the Mud Run. Well that night it rained, Myself and Rick arrived at the park around 6am to find the mud run completely submerged, I called and cancelled the Fire Dept. and came inches away from burying my truck while trying to drag our pump back to the hole to now pump water out of the Mud Run, 3 hours later of constant pumping and here is what we got.

Extreme Towing out of North Liberty came to our rescue and set up his truck at the end of the Mud Run in case anyone would get buried in our creation, Matt and Family Thank You so much for donating your time and equipment. Your trucks looked great and we hope to have you out again.

Mike McGrath donated prizes for our club to give out at the mud run, and Kevin from Harry’s Custom Trophies in Coralville donated our trophies, they were awesome, thanks so much to both businesses.

The turn out was great I have never seen so many people at the park, riders were parking out on the road, the parking lot was full, there was mud everywhere, we had a lot of spectators, Mike McGrath really did a great job letting everyone demonstrate his equipment on such a rain soaked day. I was told the clean up took 2 people all day.

This day was also a historic day at our park, thus being the first time Side by Side vehicles were allowed in the park, Lake View OHV is one of only 3 State parks in Iowa that allow ORV’s!
